About The Deed Chain

gooddeeds

We are changing the world through one act of kindness at a time, all while raising money for causes that matter.

The Deed Chain is an interactive keychain connected to a social network of people who do good deeds. We are creating a family of caring individuals all with the goal of helping people remember the good in the world.

Our Mission

Our mission is to give people the courage and power to pay forward good deeds given or received by them. We are here as a positive resource to stimulate acts of kindness in a relatable, engaging, and informative social platform to promote Alzheimer awareness.
With Alzheimer’s being the 6th leading cause of death in the United States and 1 in 3 seniors succumbing from the disease annually, The Deed Chain is here to increase awareness to help and support the Alzheimer’s and Dementia communities.

Alzheimer’s is a disease that robs loved ones of memories, The Deed Chain seeks to preserve existing memories and create even greater ones.

A portion of the revenue generated from the sales of Deed Chain key chains will be donated to the cause to support research and education on conquering this debilitating disease once and for all. The Deed Chain is the place where you can offer support, educate yourself on Alzheimer’s research and developments, share stories, and document good deeds.

Our Founder

Screen Shot 2015-12-04 at 12.04.50 PMThe Deed Chain® was founded in honor of my beloved grandmother, Shirley Brown. After being diagnosed with early signs of Dementia and memory loss in 1999, her symptoms began to progress. She would forget to take her medication, resulting in painful falls, leaving her motionless for long durations of time until someone could check on her. Health care providers suggested placing her in assisted living, needing 24/7 care – an option not affordable for most seniors on a fixed income.

To save the life of my grandmother, I packed her belongings from the place she called home for over 30 years in Chicago and moved her into my one-bedroom condo, in Atlanta – a big move for anyone!

The one thing that kept me strong was that I knew my grandmother needed me and I could not let her down.

When it came to becoming a caretaker for my grandmother, I had no idea what I was in store for both financially and mentally! How could someone who always took care of everyone else now need someone to take care of her? For a year, I began each day with tracking 12 different medications, preparing meals, and bathing her – you name it, I did it, but I was committed to it.

My grandmother made her transition in 2011 and is the inspiration for The Deed Chain concept – “helping one link at a time”. We dedicate each act of kindness channeled through the organization in my grandmother’s honor, while we also use this social platform to bring awareness to the very disease she faced with courage each day.

Remember, great acts are made up of small deeds. A portion of each chain purchased will recognize an Alzheimer’s caregiver and each documented act of kindness will create ripple effects throughout the world.

Join the movement!
